As the summer crowds thin out, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy all the best on Block Island in September.

Don’t let the quickly passing summer deter you from enjoying all the great things that Block Island has to offer. The weather is still warm, the breezes are still gentle, the sun is still shining! Ballard’s is still serving up the best local fare and refreshing cocktails. In fact, this might be the perfect time to head over and enjoy our private beach or book a relaxing weekend and enjoy our coastal location.

But don’t be fooled to think that September is completely sleepy here. After all, there’s one last hoorah that officially bids the summer goodbye. If you’re not quite ready to say “tah-tah” to the fun and energy of the season, then mark your calendar for Ballard’s End of Summer Bash occurring during Labor Day weekend. Ballard’s is throwing the last #ultimatesummerparty from Friday, September 2nd through Monday, September 5th. Don’t miss the last chance to catch live music from Those Guys, DJ Libre, and Sugar. Have fun and feel the energy as KISS 95.7 spins the final Sunday Funday on September 4th, and stick around until Monday as HJY Rocks the Block for the last time in 2016.

Once the party is over, it’s time to make plans to take advantage of the great beaches and vistas that only Block Island offers. Watch the summer cool down into autumn, and enjoy the calmer side of the island. The streets and sidewalks are a little less crowded, and it’s the perfect time of year to take in the spectacular views by foot or bike. Whether your visit calls for sightseeing or romance, Ballard’s and Hotel Manisses are as ready as ever to create the perfect Block Island experience for you.

It’s clear you’re headed for something special when even the mere journey to Block Island presents you with gorgeous vistas. Whether by air on a private or commercial plane, or by sea by private boat or public ferry, the views are beautiful, and only get better as you approach the island. And once you’re here, there’s so much to see and do.

Ballard’s kept you busy all summer long with the #ultimatesummerparty (which continues through the last Sunday in September, by the way..don’t put away those party flip-flops just yet!). If you are here for sightseeing, the stunning Mohegan Bluffs are a must-see. Standing 150 feet above the beach below, you’re sure to be dazzled by one of the most breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean in New England. Embrace a bit of maritime history by enjoying a brisk walk or leisurely bike ride to the Southeast Lighthouse, only 1.5 miles from Hotel Manisses and Ballard’s. At the northern tip of the island is the North Lighthouse. Just over 4 miles away, it’s the perfect spot to visit on a scooter! If you’re here from September 16th-18th, enjoy A Fall Taste of Block Island…it’s the ideal time to savor the delicious dining at both Ballard’s and Hotel Manisses.

After enjoying the temperate island weather during the day, head back to Ballard’s for a delicious oceanfront dinner. If you’re here for the weekend, you’ll still enjoy live acoustic music on Friday and Saturday evenings. Take a stroll on Ballard’s beach, and head back to your room as you drift off to sleep to the sound of the ocean. It’s no doubt that as you savor September in Block Island, Ballard’s has it all.
