NEW SHOREHAM, R.I. — Already known for serving Lobster 13 Ways and its festive pineapple drinks, Ballard’s can now add “Best Chowder” to list of many reasons why the iconic oceanfront resort is THE premier beach party destination.
Ballard’s recently took top honors at the 2019 BIMI ChowdaFest, beating out Winfield’s, McAloon’s and all the other local restaurants that participated in the event.
ChowdaFest benefits the Block Island Maritime Institute and its assortment of fun and educational programs for families and kids. Ballard’s took the honor of Best Chowder with Winfield’s coming in second and McAloon’s in third place. Other participants from around Block Island included Aldo’s, the Beachhead, Bethany’s, Dead Eye Dicks, Kimberly’s, Mohegan Café, The National Hotel, The Oar and The Block Island Oyster Bar and Grill.
Ballard’s executive chef, along with Ballard’s owner Steven Filippi, has spent more than a decade fine-tuning Ballard’s New England Clam Chowder recipe and they obviously have a winner!
The honor is the latest in a recent win streak for Ballard’s, which was recently recognized as Best Beach by Yankee Magazine in the publication’s 2019 Editor’s Choice Awards.
Open seasonally from May – September annually, Ballard’s is the ultimate summer party spot. So come enjoy the Best Chowder on the Best Beach at Ballard’s! Only Ballard’s has it all!
